Shademaster soft leaf buffalo
Shademaster is considered as the all round multipurpose buffalo suitable as a cost effective family lawn grass or ideally suited to commercial parkland or industrial sites where a hard wearing low maintenance grass variety is required.
Shademaster Buffalo will tolerate up to 80% shade and is especially good for areas beside fence lines, against house walls and beneath tree and garden foliage.
The broad soft leaf responds well to wear and tear. It is a thick lawn with steady growth and handles high traffic well. Its lush mat inhibits the germination of weeds.
It is a low input, low maintenance grass that has good drought tolerance and will only need mowing once a week.
It has non-allergenic properties.
Shademaster is a green to dark green colour for most of the year but with the onset of frost will develop maroon tinge.

Maintenance
In areas of hot summers and drying winds, increase the watering cycle to ensure adequate soil moisture.
If your area experiences high summer rainfalls and humid weather, be wary of fungus and diseases.
With the onset of Autumn, fertilise well and begin to increase the mowing height to allow the lawn to prepare for the winter.
Over the winter, Shademaster will become dormant and the lawn will take on maroon tinge.
In late August (after the threat of frost) prepare for the Spring growth by decreasing the mowing height to remove the thatch.
With the onset of Spring, the lawn should be mowed at 40mm (50mm in shady areas) and fertilised well.
